A 1996 Chevy Impala owned by sitcom star Tim Allen was stolen by a man alleging to be Allen's adopted son. [Insert grunt perplexed grunt noise from 'Home Improvement' soundboard.]

Faustino Ibarra is facing charges related to stealing Allen's modified ride (shown in the background of the above picture) and joyriding over 1,000 miles from Los Angeles to Denver, Colorado.  The 32-year-old Ibarra was nice enough to give an interview from the slammer and claims this is all a big misunderstanding.

"I emailed my dad the morning I got the car in and everything is fine and I've got the car and it's ready for you and we need to talk about me coming to live with you," Ibarra said.

So what's so special about the typical cop cruiser? Allen had it pimped out, Binford Tools style, and put in a 32-valve Corvette ZR1 engine with 446 horsepower and custom interior. Allen used the car specifically for black tie events in the '90s.

Ibarra is being held without bond and "will be extradited to California to face charges ranging from grand theft auto to stalking."
