It's been five years since Heath Ledger passed away. The world lost an amazing young actor. We're reminded of that fact at least once a week, which is exactly how often 'The Dark Knight' pops up on TV.

The story goes that Ledger was feeling depressed in the days leading up to his death, especially after months of playing the demented Joker character in 'The Dark Knight'. A recent piece about James Gandolfini in GQ magazine reminded us all the toll a demented character portrayal takes on the mind of an actor.

We're sure that it wasn't all doom and gloom on the set of 'The Dark Knight' and perhaps these behind the scenes photos are proof that Heath wasn't always "so serious."
