The problem with cult classic games is that the cults often aren't big enough to justify the making of sequels. That's the case with Beyond Good & Evil (2003), which is definitely the greatest game about a green-lipsticked, stealth-heavy heroine and her pig-faced sidekick. Please don't try and argue with us.

Creator Michael Ancel has been teasing the game's fans by insisting on and off for years that he'd had a squad working on a sequel, and now he's finally getting a little more specific about this piece of vaporware.

In a French-language interview spotted by a number of gaming sites, including Destructoid, Ancel simultaneously overjoys and enrages Beyond Good & Evil fans by insisting that yes, the game is still in production, but no, it won't come out on any system you currently own.

Destined for the next generation means we probably won't be able to play the games until Microsoft and Sony get off their duffs and release their new systems. The Wii U, which is due out later this year, technically counts as a next-gen console, so overly optimistic fanboys who want to have their fragile hearts stomped can hope that it might sneak out on that system sometime soon.  Ancel won't even promise the game will come out in 2013.

You'd probably have better luck kissing a pig-faced sidekick.
