Bubba Watson Masters Champions Dinner Included Mac & Cheese and Chicken

From his country club mullet to his boy band YouTube videos, 2012 Masters’ champ Bubba Watson is not a traditional, stodgy golfer.

Take his hovercraft golf cart for instance. Tuesday night’s Masters champions dinner gave Watson another opportunity to smack conventional golf tradition like a 9-iron, and he hit it dead, solid perfect.

The returning champion is always given the honor of selecting the menu of the champions dinner, whose invite list includes all past winners of the prestigious golf tournament (that’s a whole lot of green jackets at coat check). Bubba chose exactly the sort of victuals you’d expect someone named Bubba to favor: chicken, corn, mashed ‘taters and mac & cheese. Nick Faldo was aghast:

To be fair, the Augusta National kitchen probably used fine china instead of paper plates to serve the chow, but the sommelier had to be pissed. No sense in recommending a nice pinot grigio when a Coors Banquet will do just fine.

No hating though; Bubba is most certainly the people’s champion. We’d much rather go golfing with him than Faldo any day.
