We often wonder how car companies come up with the names for their vehicle models.

We're sure years of research, consumer questioning and last minute dartboard deciding happens behind the scenes but maybe the names of some of the most popular car lines come from everyday inspiration. Maybe the Odyssey was inspired by the tales of Homer (not Simpson) and a Toyota Corolla was actually named after Adam.

Art director Jim Lasser and photographer Ray Gordon have taken this thought process to the next logical step -- photographs of classic car models alongside their possible namesake. It's a project titled Namesake Motors.
