This 26-year-old country artist and television personality was born in Albemarle, North Carolina where she was raised primarily by her grandparents.

She worked as a waitress at a Sonic Drive-In before participating in the Miss America circuit, later dropping out to focus on paralegal studies. She auditioned for American Idol in 2005 where she  advanced into the semi-final rounds before being eliminated.

In July 2006, she signed a record deal with 19 Recordings/BNA Records releasing her first single later that year. In 2007, she appeared on a Celebrity Edition of the quiz show 'Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?', as well as in the Brad Paisley video for 'Online'.

In 2009, she was nominated and won the title of “World’s Sexiest Vegetarian”, and she actively participates in charitable events to help raise money for various organizations.
