Comedian to Travel Across US Using Only Bacon As Currency

If there is one thing we've learned from the internet, it's that everybody loves bacon. (Well, everybody who is religiously permitted to savor the cured meat.)

Mindful of this discovery, Oscar Mayer is sending comedian Josh Sankey on a 12 city tour with only 3000 pounds of bacon to use as currency. No cash, credit cards or any means to make purchases other than delicious pig fat. So, much like in the video above, when Sankey has to do something like take a cab he has to pay the driver in pork product.

Sankey explains the mission on the website for "The Great American Bacon Barter."

"I need your help. I’m driving from NY to LA with no cash and no cards – just a trailer full of Butcher Thick Cut Bacon to barter with you for food, lodging and everything else I need. It’s all to find out if America loves this bacon as much as money!”

If this stunt works forgot about a return to the gold standard, in the future we will all just be living high on the hog.
