First Details on Assassin’s Creed 4 Emerge

Assassins Creed

During its quarterly financial investors call, Ubisoft revealed a bit about its plans for the next game in the Assassin’s Creed series.

Since the first Assassin’s Creed arrived in 2007, Ubisoft has delivered five console games in six years. There has been a new Assassin’s Creed game released every year since 2009, with last year’s Assassin’s Creed 3 bringing the most recent entry. Taking place just before the American Revolution, AC3 introduced a new protagonist and new timeline for the first time since 2009 (the three previous AC titles focused on the life of Ezio Auditore).

According to Polygon, on Thursday’s financial conference call, Ubisoft’s Yves Guillemot announced plans to introduce another new protagonist and another new timeline in Assassin’s Creed 4. That of course makes a lot of sense if you happened to play AC3 through to completion. The sequel will release during the 2014 fiscal year (April 1st, 2013-March 31, 2014), and Guillemot promised it would be another major leap forward for the franchise. It’s too early to tell of course, but that could mean the next entry may find itself on next generation consoles.

There is still more left for Assassin’s Creed 3 protagonist Connor though, as Ubisoft revealed a full release schedule for the “Tyranny of King Washington” DLC earlier in the week.
