Batter up!

While the Major League Baseball season officially opened up on Sunday with one game, things get started in earnest today, with 12 games. The San Francisco Giants begin the defense of their World Series title on the road against their rival and lavish-spending Los Angeles Dodgers, while the Red Sox and Yankees rekindle their fierce rivalry.

Perhaps the most intriguing game, though, is between the Angels and Reds. Yes, both teams have high expectations, but today marks the first time ever any team opens the season with an interleague matchup. Interleague play won’t be a novelty this season. With the Houston Astros shifting to the American League, there will be an interleague contest just about day.
