Not all music festivals are created equal; I once accidentally ended up at a hippie festival in Vermont where everyone was silently dancing with headphones on so as not to disturb the peaceful woods. Austin Psych Fest, on the other hand, is very very loud. It's awesome.

Man, The Black Angels are like being on Heroin, without all of the puking and possible death; it's really a win/win.

Created in 2008, APF is an independent music festival in Austin, TX which has grown from a grassroots, word-of-mouth concert to an epic pilgrimage for lovers of psychedelic rock from all around the globe.

In its 6th year, APF 2013 will run from April 26-28, and showcase a mix of legendary names and new and exciting vanguards of the genre. Each year, the lineup is carefully chosen by record label The Reverberation Appreciation Society. They just announced the hefty 2013 list, which includes The Moving Sidewalks (with Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top!!), Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Black Angels, Deerhunter, and many, many more:

Tickets are available as day passes ($60) or full weekend passes ($150), and camping is available for $60/pp for the entire weekend. If you love psych rock, you cannot miss this. Also: please bring me. I am a really good travel partner, I swear.
