Shockey Snitched For A Free Sean Payton T-Shirt
ESPN's "First Take" analyst Skip Bayless was all smiles after his #FreeTebow campaign lead to the Broncos trading Tim Tebow to the Jets. But, there's a new movement to free another major NFL member - Saints coach Sean Payton.
The man who helped bring a national championship to N'awlins finally received his punishment from the league's brass for his involvement in BountyGate - 1 year suspension without pay. Some would say that's pretty harsh - like TheDirtyCoast.com, a clothing company that started printing "Free Sean Payton" t-shirts within hours of the announcement.
As Twitter nearly blew up from the backlash, Warren Sapp chimed in and insinuated that a player who was on the Saints at the time of the scandal was to blame for snitching. Tweeters didn't have to wait long as Sapp soon confirmed Shockey was the blabbermouth.
Not one to back down from a twit-fight, Shockey responded in full force. He even posted a screenshot of the iPhone text chain he had with Sean Payton verifying his innocence, which you can find below.
However, some doubt remained about the legitimacy of the text. Many wondered how an NFL coach could use so many exclamation points and text like a tween after a midnight screening of Twilight.
Luckily, the guys at Buzzfeed were able to find the full text of the previous message...
There was a ton of speculation on Twitter over why #ShockeySnitched, but we have to think he's in on this whole "Free Sean Payton" t-shirt biz. And here everyone thought he was just some podunk from Oklahoma.
