Jovan Belcher — Shocking Sports Deaths

It was the story that brought suicide and depression in the NFL into national conversation.

Belcher, a Chiefs' linebacker, killed his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins, then drove to the Chiefs' facility and shot himself in the parking lot. Nobody was able to intervene and convince Belcher to drop the gun in time. Last month we learned that at the time of the incident Belcher had .170 mg. of alcohol in his system, double the legal limit in Missouri. It's just the latest episode that has led sports fans to consider life and loss.
