Kate Upton (Katherine Upton) was born in St. Joseph, Michigan on June 10, 1992 but raised in Melbourne, Florida. Her uncle, Fred Upton, is a Republican Congressman in her home state of Michigan. Kate is an accomplished equestrian, and has one five championships in the sport. She once ranked third in the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) youth Top 20 list.

Kate Upton attended a casting call for Elite Model Management and was signed that very day. She moved to New York soon after and signed with IMG Models. In 2010, she was the face of 'Guess' and the following year made her first appearance in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. In 2011, Upton she was named the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue 'Rookie of the Year' and in 2012 she was announced as the cover model on an episode of 'The Late Show with David Letterman.' Kate Upton has modeled for Victoria's Secret and has appeared in magazines such as Complex and Esquire.

Kate Upton's popularity skyrocketed after a video of her during the 'Dougie' at a Los Angeles Clippers game made the rounds online. Her popularity and celebrity is on the rise.
