‘Lego Lord of the Rings’ Game On the Way? Sure, Why Not

At this point it should come as no surprise that any fantasy franchise is getting Lego-fied. After Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Batman, Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean have taken plastic brick form, it was only a matter of time until The Lord of the Rings followed suit.

MCV dug up the news, connecting the dots from the recent creation of a Lego Lord of the Rings toy line. It's also no shocker that English developer Traveller's Tales, which created the Lego game formula and is happily running it into the ground, is the gang behind the adaptation. Another non-stunner: The games will be based on the 2001-2003 Peter Jackson-directed movies rather than directly on the J.R.R. Tolkien books.

While we're relaying obvious news, let's put our glittery-jeweled fortune teller's hats and foretell that the first game will Lego-fy the LOTR trilogy, followed by a semi-sequel that adds a Lego'd-up The Hobbit. That's the path the developer has taken with Star Wars, Harry Potter and Indiana Jones.

We just hope we won't get so obsessed with Lego LOTR that we become spindly shut-ins who speak of ourselves in the third person and refer to the game as "our preciousssss."
