Lollapalooza Israel 2013 Postponed?

Last year, Lollapalooza founders unveiled plans to expand to Israel in 2013. The event was scheduled to take place at Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv from Aug. 20-22. However, a recent statement indicates that this may no longer be the case.

Perry Farrell, the festival’s creator, shared his excitement about the expansion into Israel with CNN last August. “We got a call from Jerusalem, the Holy City, and they want Lollapalooza to be there, too,” he said. “It’s going to start in Tel Aviv, and we’re going to do something in Jerusalem.”

But despite the growing enthusiasm surrounding the event, the website for Lollapalooza Israel vanished a few weeks ago without warning or explanation. A spokeswoman allegedly referred to it as a postponement rather than a cancellation, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Regardless, the show will go on — the highly-anticipated touring festival is still set to visit Santiago, Chile, and Sao Paolo, Brazil, in the spring, followed by a three-day stop in its home base of Chicago in August. Click here for more details.
