Mamie Gummer — Celeb Crush

Resemble? Yeah, we’d say Mamie Gummer resembles her mother, Meryl Streep. Just a little.

A child of a movie legend and renowned sculptor Don Gummer, Mamie was born in New York City and raised in Salisbury, CT with her older brother, Henry Wolfe Gummer, and younger sisters, actress Grace Gummer and Louisa.

With a mother like Meryl, it didn’t take Mamie long to catch the acting bug herself. As a 20-month-old baby she appeared with her mom in ‘Heartburn,’ (though she was credited under a pseudonym to avoid attention from the press). She was actually reviewed in the New York Times for her performance, and we tried to find that review, because it must be hilarious and awesome.

She attended Northwestern University, where she studied theatre and communications, graduating in 2005. A few months later she was cast in the off-Broadway premiere of Noah Haidle’s ‘Mr. Marmalade,’ alongside Michael C. Hall.

Over the course of her short career, she has already received lots of recognition, including a Theatre World Award in 2005 for her above mentioned role, and a 2007 Lucille Lortel Award nomination for her role in Theresa Rebeck’s ‘The Water’s Edge.’

Gummer made her official adult debut on the big screen with a bit part in the 2006 film ‘The Hoax,’ starring Richard Gere. The next year she joined her mother on the cast of ‘Evening,’ where she played the younger version of her mother’s character — not a big surprise.

In 2008’s HBO mini-series ‘John Adams’ she played Sally Adams, the wife of the which second President of the U.S. That same year she finally made her way onto Broadway in the revival production of ‘Les Liaisons Dangereuses.’ She’s also appeared on the CBS show ‘The Good Wife,’ ABC’s ‘Off the Map’ and starred in last year’s CW show ‘Emily Owens, M.D.’

In addition to an active career on stage and screen, Mamie is involved in charity work through the Women’s Refugee Commission and the Nomi Network. Plus, she’s real cute:
