No. 47: Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee – 100 Greatest Games Ever

A platforming game in the vein of Out of This World, Oddworld tells the story of a slave called Abe who's working at a meat processing factory on Oddworld.

After finding out that his people are going to be incorporated into the corporation's latest line of meat popsicles, he breaks out and brings as many of his buddies along.

Beautiful and dark 2D graphics make for a unique journey, as well as the much-touted "GameSpeak" feature, which let Abe communicate with other characters. Hopefully that long-planned HD remake will hit soon.
