If Richard Sherman is right, maybe they should call it the ADHDFL?

Sherman, a vocal cornerback for the Seattle Seahawks, said on Tuesday that nearly half the players in the NFL are taking Adderall, a prescription stimulant known to provide increased focus and concentration for those suffering from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

The league allows players with valid medical reasons to take the medication, but Sherman suggested that far more players are using it. Sherman was to serve a suspension for using Adderall last season before successfully appealing the case due to a mishandled sample.

"About half the league takes it, and the league has to allow it," Sherman said. "The league made a mistake in my case. Obviously, I didn't do anything, but you have to go through a process to prove you didn't do anything. There are still naysayers out there who don't believe me. But I accept it. If everybody loves you, it probably means you're not much of a player."

While old heads would suggest anyone under the age of 30 doesn't have much of an attention span these days (and get off their lawn!), there's no possible way that half of the NFL needs Adderall for medical reasons.

If Sherman's assertion is remotely accurate, would the league consider allowing it as a legal performance enhancer given the widespread abuse? Unlikely and a dangerous precedent, but it would be one way for NFL players to remain popular with Millennials — they can go to the same dealers and rawk shows!
