The sexier half (in our opinion) of the super popular country music duo Thompson Square, Shawna Thompson, went from selling cowboy boots in Nashville to winning big at the CMT Music Awards on Wednesday night. Shawna, along with husband Keifer Thompson, nabbed the Duo Video of the Year award for the clip ‘I Got You.’

The striking Alabama native, who really knows how to work that sultry country-punk chick look, worked retail and sang as a solo artist before meeting Keifer at a Nashville singing competition. They formed Thompson Square and released the first of many well-received singles in early 2010.

The duo’s incredibly catchy songs helped them earn success in the country music biz soon after they started recording. The Academy of Country Music named the husband and wife team Duo of the Year in April, and it doesn’t look like their popularity is about to fade anytime soon.

But no matter how famous Shawna gets, we’re glad to know she’ll keep her feet on the ground. Here’s what she had to say after winning at the CMT Awards: "It wasn't very long ago that Keifer and I were selling boots and buckles right down the street at a Western store ... This is awesome!"
