‘Skyrim’ Will Now React To Your Yells, Via Kinect

Preorder Skyrim

We’ve spent many hours yelling at The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and the game’s always taken it in stride, pretending as though it didn’t hear us. Now it’s done playing nice. Thanks to an update released today, those playing the game on an Xbox 360 with a Kinect device hooked up will be able to control the game with their voice.

The developer details the voice commands on the Bethesda Blog. You can now pause the game, call up items, save your game and take a look at the map. But that’s just the boring stuff. The cool thing about voice commands is that they let you institute shouts — the commands that let you unleash dragon magic on your enemies. Naturally, the game responds to either English or Dragon Language.¬†For a full list of voice commands, check out this database.

Skyrim is legendary not only because of its greatness, but due to its wacky bugs. And because Kinect is also known for massive glitchiness, we expect that controlling the game via Kinect to be about as comfortable as taking an arrow in the knee.
