Jonathan Mann grew up playing video games during a time when Nintendo was still the home console kings. The 8-bit brilliance of Super Mario opened his mind at a young age. After moving across the country, and seeing NES-influenced band The Minibosses live, he wrote The Mario Opera.

The Mario Opera is about Super Mario realizing he's a character in a video game, and how he copes with this realization. The band The Everymen will be providing music, and Colin Snyder will be providing visual accompaniment.

The Mario Opera was performed only once, over a decade ago, but Jonathan Mann is bringing it back one more time. This time it will be performed in New York City, at Joe's Pub, so if you don't live in NYC your poop out of luck.
