Ronda Rousey made Liz Carmouche submitvia an arm bar late in the first round and won the UFC women’s bantamweight title at UFC 157 in Anaheim, Calif. on Saturday night. The match was the first-ever UFC women’s fight.

Rousey rallied for the win after surviving a near-submission when Carmouche had her in a rear naked choke hold earlier in the round. A bronze medalist in judo at the Beijing Olympics, Rousey was able to fight through the hold and regain the edge.

As the first round drew to a close, Rousey and Carmouche rolled on the mat several times before Rousey clamped on her signature arm bar, resulting in the former U.S. Marine tapping out with 11 seconds remaining.
