What is ‘Kaepernicking’? It’s a Thing Now

Last season Tim Tebow lead his team on a surprise run to the playoffs, sparking a Tebowing craze. Earlier this season it was rookie QB Robert Griffin III who had Washington Redskins fans Griffining all over social media.

Now its San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick's turn to inspire internet imitation. During his stunning performance in a win against Green Bay Saturday night, number 7 kissed his right bicep after scoring a touchdown, which is his habit.

By Sunday, Twitter was filled with 49ers fans aping the pose.

To be fair, Kaepernick is far from the first athlete to kiss his flexed muscle in self-praise. What is now being called Kaepernicking was once the signature move of pro wrestler Scott Steiner.  And the artist formally known as Ron Artest has also been known to give his bicep a celebratory smooch. However none of them ever did so while setting an NFL record for rushing yards by a quarterback in a game. So, for now, Kaeperniking belongs to Colin.
