The Australian pole vaulter began her craft at age 11 and has won two under-age titles.

She was a finalist in the 2006 Miss Teen Australia pageant and placed in the Bartercard Miss V8 Supercar Quest. She hopes to enter the Miss Universe pageant in the future.

As for role models, Melanie looks up to the Cathy Freeman and Tatiana Grigorieva, the Russian-Australian pole vaulter who won gold at the Commonwealth Games of 2002. Dabbling with the heptathlon, Adams broke her foot and was forced out of action for a while.

The awesome Aussie makes ends meet by working as a personal trainer and also enjoys wakeboarding, snowboarding, and waterboarding. JK on that last one.
