DJ Jayceeoh spun his way past 18 other DJ’s during this season of VH1's 'Master of the Mix' and took home the grand prize of $250,000. Jayceeoh is now the official Smirnoff DJ and the Master of the Mix.

DJ Jayceeoh sat down with us to talk about his victory, how he got his start and the benefits of controlling a party (and possibly the ladies at said party).

How did you get into DJing? Was it a passion when you were a kid?

When I was in 8th grade I saw a battle video of the X-ecutioners vs The Beatjunkies. From that moment I was hooked and did everything I could to learn and become a DJ.

Who were/are your influences?

Lots! Jazzy Jeff, Z-Trip, Revolution, Beatjunkies, Craze, A-trak to name a few...

Without giving away any of your secrets, how easy is it to meet women as a DJ?

Haha! Well it depends... The fact that we as DJs are controlling the vibe of a party and are on stage attracts women more than the average Joe. But for me, while I am actually DJing I don't worry about girls. I got a job to do! There is time for that after my set.

Did you ever imagine when starting out that you'd not only win this type of competition but that it would be on television?

Since I started DJing I always dreamed big. I never knew that my success would come in this form though. I could never imagine I would win a TV show and a quarter-million. Shit is crazy!

Where is your ultimate venue as a DJ?

Coachella.

What advice do you have to young DJs just starting out?

Practice your ass off! Don't step into the arena until you are really ready. Also very important, network and be personable. The music industry is built on relationships. If you’re an asshole it doesn’t matter how good you are, people will not want to work with you.
