7 Actresses Who Have Played Convincing Hookers
Sometimes when you’re an actor or actress you are asked to step outside of your comfort zone to take on a role. You’re supposed to transcend your character and get in tune with their feelings and desires.
Well, if you’re a female and asked to play a hooker for a role that can be very hard. Hell, even revealing to your loved ones that you’re new gig is playing a prostitute in a film is strange enough, sometimes scary.
Yet, parental judgments aside, the below actresses took their roles very seriously and built characters that were not only convincing but also tremendously entertaining. And you never know, sometimes if you take a risk the outcome could be rewarding… as in award winning.
Here are seven actresses that stepped outside their comfort zone to play some rather convincing prostitutes.
We think it’s safe to say that the lovely Jennifer Love Hewitt has come a long way since her 'Party of Five' days, even her 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' days. She’s been successful and beautiful for years, however, it wasn’t until her Lifetime series 'The Client List' started popping up everywhere that we really noticed her. Bluntly put, we noticed a couple of other things popping up as well.
Gone is the innocent girl we knew from years ago. She was cute and funny in 'Mean Girls', delightful in 'Mamma Mia' and just plain sexy in 'Chloe', especially this scene. In this film, Amanda stretches her acting capacity and comes across as a very, very convincing woman of the night.
Is this a bit odd? Yes! However, one can never think of Jodie Foster without having the movie 'Taxi Driver' in their mind. Starring Robert De Niro as the lonely and troubled Travis Bickle, Jodie Foster plays a very convincing young prostitute who De Niro attempts to befriend and save from the troubles of her ways. At the time of filming Foster was merely twelve-years-old but it was obvious at the time that she had the chops for a long lasting and successful career ahead of her.
How can one think of a film involving prostitution and not mention 'Pretty Woman'? It’s unfathomable! This movie is a classic. So many women, after seeing this movie, only wished that an older wealthy handsomely gentleman like Richard Gere would come and swoop them off their feet, saving them from all of the hardships of life. However, sans the prostitution profession.
In this film, Mira Sorvino is not only playing a convincing role, she’s quite funny at it as well! Apparently the academy agreed because in 1995 Mira won the Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Woody Allen’s 'The Mighty Aphrodite'.
Nicole Kidman’s role in this film made every woman want to be a prostitute. Okay, maybe not. However, what it did do was create an incredibly successful film with an enjoyable role that will forever be remembered as funny, loving and most definitely sexy.
In this film Elisabeth shows us not only that she’s a great actress but also that she can be very sexy in nearly any outfit or position when wanting to. But we’re curious; do you think Nicholas Cage tried to sell her a dinosaur head when they were filming?
