No. 93: Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn – 100 Greatest Games Ever

The best video game to ever come out of Dungeons and Dragons, Baldur's Gate is a Bioware game set in the Forgotten Realms setting. Featuring a massive 100-hour quest across five CDs, the game was an instant hit, selling so well it kicked off an entire series of excellent RPGs (Planetscape: Torment, Icewind Dale) using the AD&D 2nd Edition rules. A deep storyline, insane amounts of loot and addictive combat made for one of the best PC games of all time.

So it was a complete surprise that the second game was even better in almost every way, deeper and prettier and even more immersive.

Enhanced Editions of both Baldur's Gate games will be hitting sometime in summer 2012!
