No. 86: Batman: Arkham Asylum – 100 Greatest Games Ever

Still the best superhero game ever made, Batman: Arkham Asylum allowed you to genuinely feel like the world's greatest detective. The fluid combat system makes you a true badass, the stealth segments equally perfect as you cling to the shadows and take out unaware enemies. It doesn't hurt that you get to play with all of those wonderful toys that you'd expect, from Batarangs to Batclaws.

Even with Batman: Arkham City's best intentions, the game paled in comparison to the original, which had a tighter story, more compelling collectibles and a better cast. Even with Arkham Asylum's goofy final boss fight it's the better of the two.
