NBA star Dirk Nowitzki is back to looking more like the German Jordan than the Geico caveman. The Dallas Mavericks' superstar shooter finally shaved after his team reached .500 on Sunday night, beating the New Orleans Hornets, 107-89. With the Mavericks struggling in January, Nowitzki and teammates Vince Carter, O.J. Mayo and Chris Kaman, all vowed not to shave until the 2011 NBA champs got back to an even record for the first time since early December. Sunday's win put them at 40-40.

It’s been too long,” Nowitzki said. “Even my wife stopped kissing me somewhere in February. It feels good to shave again.”

While Nowitzki never reached Josh Reddick/Daniel Bryan level beard-dom, his scruff was out of control. The big shave came on the night Nowitzki became just the 17th player in NBA history to score 25,000 career points. After the game, Nowitzki seemed more pleased by the shaving than the milestone. Hopefully he didn't hide the mustache wax; Dallas lost to Memphis on Monday night and has just one game remaining in the 2012-13 NBA season.
