While Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was the last "fun" GTA installment, there's no besting Niko Bellic's tragic tale of an immigrant trying to make a name for himself in all the wrong ways. Liberty City feels like a real, lived-in city, and the hugely detailed world becomes as much of a character in the game as any of the people you meet. There's just so much to do here, so much to explore, so many people to hit with your car and marvel at the way they crumple realistically.

So many memorable moments await you -- from bank robberies to stumbling home drunk from a car yelling at cabs. By the way- the two expansions made the game ever better, offering one memorable mission after another. Plus, mid-mission checkpoints!
