Internet Porn Can Cause Short-Term Memory Loss, Says…What Were We Talking About?

As any connoisseur of smut knows, the internet is home to an inexhaustible supply of easily-gotten porn. But all those nudie pics and X-rated videos come at a terrible price, according to a new study. In addition to hairy palms, porn can also cause short-term memory loss. Uh, what we were talking about?

In the first study of its kind, German researchers at the University of Duisburg-Essen asked 28 men to look at sexual and non-sexual computer images. Then, they asked the men to recall the images later and found that 67 percent had difficulty remembering those that were explicit.

According to researchers, these findings could explain why people who are addicted to porn forget to sleep and neglect social, professional and recreational activities. "Sexual arousal and its impacts on cognitive processes might explain parts of these negative effects," said the study.

Since the study only focused on heterosexual men, it's too early to tell whether porn affects women or gay men in the same way, but researchers promise further testing.
