Malina Moye — Celeb Crush

Guitar goddess, talented vocalist, fashion plate and record label executive? Forget triple-threat, this woman is a quad-threat.

A lefty guitarist, Malina flipped her fender strat upside-down and then flipped our brains inside out, once we heard her play. Her music is part rock, part funk and part soul. She's opened for Journey, and recently performed for Chuck Berry at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Malina was featured in the documentary, 'Stratmaster: The Greatest Guitar Story Ever Told,' and Guitar World Magazine calls her the “female Jimi Hendrix” and “one of the top 10 female guitarists to know.” Moye's songwriting is so strong that she is a part of Sony’s writing team, and after releasing her single 'Girlfriend' on her own indepedent label (WCE records) and reaching the Billboard charts, Billboard Magazine called her “a ground-breaking artist who makes an indelible impression.”

Malina made history as the first black woman to play the national anthem on guitar at a pro-sports event, when she wailed and whammied her way through 'The Star Spangled Banner' at a Vikings Vs. Cowboys game. Her first record, 'Diamonds & Guitars' featured several billboard-topping singles that got the music world's attention; so much so that she recently signed with Sony/ Red Records.

Her upcoming release 'Rock & Roll Baby' has been described as "funk rock with mainstream radio appeal," and is rumored to be stacked with appearances from music legends. Moye cites Sly and the Family Stone and Led Zeppelin as having heavily influenced the album. Last year, Malina was the only female on the lineup of the 'Experience Hendrix Tour,' where she played alongside legends like Robert Randolph and Buddy Guy.
