Frantic multiplayer mayhem done right, Super Smash Bros. Melee caused many a broken GameCube controller and argument among friends. It turns out that people do want to see Donkey Kong beating Pikachu to a pulp. Who woulda thunk it?

Unlike any fighting game out there, the four-player every-man-for-himself battles see everyone grabbing items and using their special abilities to knock characters all over the screen, and preferably off of it. Twenty five playable characters with no fluff showcase how many memorable faces Nintendo has, unlike some other companies (ahem, PlayStation All-Star Battle Royale.)

Requiring more skill than luck than Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it also doesn't have the needlessly long single player mode of the sequel. Everything you need is right here- except three friends to play with and then lose forever.
