As the National Hockey League has finally ended their lockout, we will soon be getting professional hockey back in North America.

While NHL owners and players was still squabbling, Great Britain’s Elite Ice Hockey League picked up some of the slack for live hockey. Recently, one Elite player delivered a nasty slash to the midsection of one of his opponents that earned him a multi-game suspension.

Nearing the conclusion of a game between the Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers, Nottingham's Kelsey Wilson took aim at the chest of Sheffield's Simon Ferguson and delivered a vicious two-handed slash to Ferguson's chest.

It is unknown what Ferguson did to warrant the slash and also why no one from the Steelers went to defend Simon after the incident occurred. After the game, Wilson received a three-game suspension from the league but at best, that's a mere slap on the wrist.
