Jennifer Lawrence is an American film and television actress whose most notable film role was playing Katniss Everdeen in 'The Hunger Games'.

Jennifer Lawrence (Jennifer Shrader Lawrence) was born on August 15, 1990 in Louisville, Kentucky. As a child, Lawrence acted in church plays and by age 14, decided to pursue an acting career. She persuaded her parents to take her to New York City to find a talent agent. Although Lawrence had no formal acting experience, her performance impressed the talent agency she auditioned for and Lawrence graduated from high school two years early in order to begin a career in acting.

Lawrence appeared in episodes of shows such as 'Monk' and 'Cold Case,' but it was her role as Lauren Pearson on 'The Bill Engvall Show' which became Lawrence's first regular television job. Lawrence's breakthrough film role came in 2010's 'Winter's Bone,' for which she won critical praise and several film awards nominations, including an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in 2011. Lawrence's other films include 'The Beaver' starring opposite Mel Gibson and as Mystique in 'X-Men: First Class'. Her most high profile film role to date is playing Katniss Everdeen in 'The Hunger Games'.
