Millennials Are Spending Enough on Bachelor Parties to Bankrupt Themselves
Saying goodbye to the single life costs a pretty penny.
Zillow looked at data from The Knot and found that millennials are spending an average of $1,532 on destination bachelor parties. Bachelorette parties, meanwhile, are only sucking a little more than $1,100 per guest.
That's on top of the already ludicrous cost of going to the wedding itself.
Now, you may be thinking it's okay to spend a fortune on a blowout that makes The Hangover look like tea with grandma because you're sending your buddy off into the prison of matrimony, but there's this thing called "planning ahead" that you may not be taking into account.
"If the average person attends nine destination parties in a lifetime, they will have spent up to 34 percent of the cash needed for a down payment on the median-priced home," reports Zillow.
Does knowing that a weekend of debauchery may result in living in your parents' basement until 45 change the way you approach bachelor parties? Instead of jetting off to the Big Easy, doing tequila shots and smoking the best Cuban cigars, maybe you'd be better off going to Denny's, drinking wine in a box and smoking some Camels in the parking lot.
