Minka Kelly is an American actress who rose to fame in the NBC series 'Friday Night Lights' playing cheerleader Lyla Garrity.

Minka Kelly Bio

Minka Kelly (Minka Dumont Dufay) was born on June 24, 1980 in Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter of former Aerosmith guitarist Rick Dufay. Her mother, Maureen Dumont Kelly, was an exotic dancer, who raised her daughter by herself. Kelly grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico but returned to Los Angeles with her father to pursue acting as a hobby while she went to school to become a surgical technician.

Kelly's first television role was on NBC's 'Friday Night Lights, in which she played Lyla Garrity for three seasons. During the time she appeared on the show, Kelly also had minor roles in the movies '2 Fast 2 Furious,' 'The Kingdom' and '(500) Days of Summer'. After leaving 'Friday Night Lights' in 2009, Kelly guest-starred on 'Parenthood,' also on NBC. She was named "Sexiest Woman Alive" by Esquire magazine in 2010. The following year, Kelly starred in her first major Hollywood film 'The Roomate,' in which she was the lead star. The film was a box office success, grossing $40 million on its $16 million budget.

In 2011, Kelly starred in the ABC reboot of the 'Charlie's Angels' television series. Although she played Eve French, one of three agents, ABC cancelled the show after airing just four episodes due to poor ratings. Kelly was briefly engaged to baseball star Derek Jeter, but the relationship ended in August 2011.
