Paulina Gretzky’s Wham, Bam, Instagram! 7 Hockey Terms You Didn’t Know Were Actually About Her
We were pretty upset a while back when Paulina had to take down her Twitter; we like to keep up with her life. Well she's back and better than ever, so we've collected some of our favorite recent Instagram pics to help us educate you on the real meanings to some hockey terminology. We hope this clears up any confusion.
Hockey Terminology 101, Revised:
1. Butt-ending
The act of jabbing an opponent with the knob of their stick. A major plus game misconduct penalty. We hate to see her go, but we love to watch her leave.
2. Two-on-one:
When a team enters the attacking zone and outnumbers the opposing players in the zone. If only.
3. Dive:
When a player embellishes contact made against him in order to entice the referee into calling a penalty against the opposition; however sometimes this ends up in a "unsportsmanlike conduct" penalty being called against the embellishing player. We wish she would.
4. Hip check:
Using the hip to knock an opponent against the boards or to the ice. YUP, they're definitely there.
5. Poke checking:
Using the stick to poke the puck away from an opponent. You get us. It checks out.
6. Powerplay:
A powerplay occurs when one team has more players on the ice than the other team as a result of penalties assessed to the shorthanded team. Teaming up with one of her friends to double the sexiness of an Instagram picture.
7. Major penalty:
A five-minute penalty. Touching the stomach of a dude wearing a Fedora.
