As if being reminded by your loved ones wasn't enough, electronics major Philips has developed a new LCD monitor that tracks user-attention and can even make posture suggestions.

Called the ErgoSensor Monitor, this 24-incher packs a 1920 x 1080 resolution with a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and integrated stereo speakers. It even turns off completely if it detects you are away from the computer - or if your posture suggests you have dozed off. Sadly, it doesn't come with an alarm for anyone pulling an all-nighter.

The actual sensor is located near the monitor's webcam and can calculate the distance between the user and the screen, thus warning them if they’re too close or far away. The monitor will also flash warnings if the user’s posture is wrong, and alert them if they’ve sat at the display for too long. You can hear World of Warcraft players freaking out all over the globe.

Philips says the monitor's power-saving feature will save you up to 80% of energy consumed. While they haven't announced pricing yet, the ErgoSensor technology is well on its way to becoming an industry standard. If only they installed this into TV sets, maybe 'Whitney' and 'Two and a Half Men' would get cancelled.
