Disney Epic Mickey Studio Closed
Following up on our earlier story from this morning, Junction Point Studios, the developer behind the Disney Epic Mickey franchise has been shut down.
For a short while now, rumors concerning the closure of Junction Point have been circulating. On Tuesday, Disney confirmed the worst, releasing a statement about the future of Junction Point.
"It was with much sadness that we informed our teams today of changes to our Games organization, which include the closure of Junction Point Studios," the statement released to Kotaku read. "These changes are part of our ongoing effort to address the fast-evolving gaming platforms and marketplace and to align resources against our key priorities. We're extremely grateful to Warren Spector and the Junction Point team for their creative contributions to Disney with Disney Epic Mickey and Disney Epic Mickey 2."
The news isn't all that surprising considering reports Disney Epic Mickey 2, which arrived last November, sold only 270,000 copies in 2012. It's not likely any studio would have stayed open selling so few copies, let alone one with the expectations being owned by Disney presented.
