Jon Bon Jovi’s Son, Jesse Bongiovi, May Walk on to Notre Dame’s Football Team
In a development that's sure to launch a million bad 'Livin' On A Prayer' puns from members of the sports media, Jesse Bongiovi, the son of rock star Jon Bon Jovi, intends to walk on to the football team at Notre Dame this fall.
Expected to graduate from Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, N.Y. this spring, Bongiovi, 18, played football and lacrosse in high school. Other colleges were interested in the 5'11", 180-pound senior, but he decided to attempt to walk on at one of the most storied programs in college football history.
“I came up here when I was in eighth grade and I just fell in love with the place,” Bongiovi said. “The culture here, the people here, the opportunities here, they’re unreal. They’re second to none. Given the opportunity to walk on to the team and become a part of this family was an easy decision for me.”
Bongiovi's famous dad, who obviously tweaked his surname years ago, is a big Notre Dame fan and a friend of former Irish football coach Charlie Weis. His rooting interest obviously rubbed off on his son. Like his dad, Jesse has been featured in a few videos, as you can see below. His clips have decidedly less big hair and screaming Jersey girls.
