'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' (or 'Captain America 2') hits movie theaters on April 14, 2014. Rumors and speculation about the film began months ago. Here's everything we know so far.

What happens when a cult comic book action hero turn film does well at the box office? The answer: Hollywood comes out with a sequel. After 'Captain America: The First Avenger' reeled in $65 million on opening weekend -- and over $368 million worldwide -- the powers that be tapped a second installation.

Disney and Marvel's 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' centers on World War II hero Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) dealing with present-day America while working with S.H.I.E.L.D. — the government agency with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford).

In the meantime, there has been a lot of buzz surrounding the sequel.

Comic-Con 2013 served as a big marketing tool for the in post-production film. Fans welcomed the cast from 'Captain America 2', featuring Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp, Cobie Smulders, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans, with open arms.

Evans, star of 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' was particularly stoked about the whole experience, exclaiming, “I live for Disney!” Evans had even attempted to convince the attending cast of 'Captain America 2' to go to Disneyland prior to the Comic-Con events. But they all prudently agreed to wait until after the festivities to partake in the Disney amusement park.

Aside from hearing the film’s stars speak at the 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' panel, fans were also handed another treat. One of the biggest reveals during Comic-Con 2013 was the unleashing of concept art from the movie, including the new and improved poster. The poster features Captain America intensely battling with his former friend and ally Bucky Barnes, who, in the new movie, turns into the “Winter Soldier.”

But fans aren’t the only excited people about the movie. In fact, certain cast members of 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' are pretty big fanboys themselves. Samuel L. Jackson admitted in an August USA Today interview that, “I still go to the comic book store twice a month. I still play my video games at home from time to time. I watch all kinds of pop-culture movies.”

Jackson also gave prospective viewers a little—otherwise unreleased—insight on the film:

“It’s great to have [my character, Nick Fury] dealing with Captain America in terms of being able to speak to him soldier to soldier and try to explain to him how the world has changed in another way while he was frozen in time. Some of the people who used to be our enemies are now our allies — him trying to figure out, ‘Well, how do we trust those guys?’ or ‘How do we trust the guys that you didn’t trust who don’t trust you?’ And explaining to him that the black and white of good guys/bad guys has now turned into this gray area. Nick lies to him all the time, too. But he’s trying to help him navigate the waters of the new sharks that he doesn’t know anything about.”

Needless to say, there's plenty to be excited about 'Captain America 2'. And even if you’re not a fan of the Captain America brand, you might at the very least be lured by Scarlett Johansson wearing a tight, leather outfit.
