‘Evil Dead’ Reboot Rated NC-17 By the MPAA?
Worried about whether the 'Evil Dead' remake can possibly live up to the original? Well, we've got good news for you: 'Evil Dead' received an NC-17 rating from the MPAA. Are you happy now?
Director Fede Alvarez submitted his first cut of 'Evil Dead' to the MPAA and received the rare NC-17 rating, sending him back to the editing room to cultivate a slightly tamer cut. Alvarez boasts on Twitter:
The red band trailer was enough to assure even the most weary viewer that this film is definitely going big when it comes to blood and goo, and even the green band trailer had its fair share of the red, sticky stuff. But news that the film received an NC-17 rating on its first go is a badge of honor, and one to which horror fans will likely respond enthusiastically.
'Evil Dead' is a remake of Sam Raimi's 1981 horror classic, following a group of friends who head off to the woods to a remote cabin, where they discover the Book of the Dead. Upon reading from the book, a host of evil demons are unleashed. The film stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, and Jessica Lucas, and hits theaters on April 12.
