The new movie releases for January 2013 will heat things up this winter.

Unless you live in a temperate climate like Miami or Los Angeles, and get to enjoy babes in bikinis year round, it's cold in January. One way to stave off the bitter chill is by throwing on a coat, scarf and gloves and heading to the multiplex to take in a movie in a dark and warm theater. Check out our list of new movie releases for January 2013, and while it's not a blockbuster season, there are still plenty of flicks that should get your ass off the couch and into a theater's stadium-style seat.

Plus, walking to the concession line to get a large (and refillable) tub of popcorn drowned in liquefied butter and a Diet Coke can be considered exercise.

So what are the new movie releases for January 2013?

Well, there is another remake of 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,' this one in 3D. We know, likely not a necessary cinematic endeavor, but torture porn and gore is always good for a laugh, especially with an added dimension. "We're glad it's them and not us" is always the perspective when it comes to slasher flicks. This one is simply 'Texas Chainsaw 3D.'

If you prefer more serious and weighty fare, there's the Oscar contender 'Zero Dark Thirty,' which chronicles the decade-long search for Osama Bin Laden and stars that gorgeous redhead Jessica Chastain. It was directed by Kathryn Bigelow, who nabbed an Academy Award for 'The Hurt Locker' and was once married to James "I'm the King of the World" Cameron, who directed 'Titanic' and 'Avatar.'

There's also 'Gangster Squad,' a cool and stylized '40s period piece about the LAPD versus gangsters, starring Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin. That eye candy known as Emma Stone is also in the movie, which all the more reason to go see it. You may remember that a scene of a movie theater filled with a hail of bullets was removed from the trailer after the summer shooting massacre at 'The Dark Knight Rises' in Aurora, Colorado.

Other films includes 'Movie 43,' an ensemble comedy from Rogue Pictures featuring Halle Berry, Elizabeth Banks, Kate Bosworth, Anna Faris and Justin Long. We mentioned him for "one of these things is not like the other" effect.
