Usually, the worst thing that happens to you if you screw up while playing a video game is you have to start over. Not anymore.

French gamers Dyak and Furrtek have designed a shock collar that connects to a video game console (in this instance, it's a Sega Genesis unit). If a gamer makes a mistake during gameplay, the collar jolts users into focusing more — like invisible fencing meets Microsoft Kinect. Watch the shock collar in action in the video below:

Dyak and Furrtek call their homemade invention Genezap, giving it the catchphrase, “There’s no pity for bad gamers.” The gamers offer instructions, tools and code to make your own Genezap, but we can't advise doing so.
