College Football Recruit Picks School Because It Was ‘Close To a Chick-fil-A’
You might think highly-recruited high school football player Cassanova McKinzy of Birmingham, Ala. announced that he would attend Auburn University this fall because he wanted to one day be like former Tigers star, and No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick, Cam Newton. Nope.
McKinzy chose Auburn because Clemson "had no Chick-fil-A on campus," as the prep linebacker said with devotion to his favorite fast food restaurant.
Let's see Sandra Bullock make a movie out of this one.
"You had to go like, probably like 15 minutes off campus to go to like a real restaurant. Their café was kind of small," McKinzy told the local CBS affiliate in Brimingham of his campus visit to Clemson.
Of course, there is a Chick-fil-A on Clemson's campus, but none of the recruiters thought to offer McKinzy a nice breaded chicken sandwich on his visit. Instead, Clemson seemed content to try to lure him with the school's classroom and athletic facilities.
So, he basically said: "Cluck off, Clemson."
