A game far ahead of its time, Blaster Master was one of the most innovative games for the NES. Part platformer, part shooter, part puzzle game, it sees you driving a mobile tank around a non-linear game trying to find and eliminate bosses.

Your tank can shoot in multiple directions and offers a lot of protection, but sometimes you need to leave the safety of the vehicle to walk around on foot in order to squeeze through doors and climb ladders. In those areas, you'll play a shooter game from an entirely new perspective with different weapons and abilities. Find and kill each boss and you'll get new parts to equip on your tank, which let you travel to new areas.

Just one of the most well-designed games of its time. Two years ago, Sunsoft came back with a remake called Blaster Master Overdrive on WiiWare, and despite some blurry graphics it does a good job of updating it.
