No. 19: Chrono Trigger – 100 Greatest Games Ever

Chrono Trigger is rightfully known as one of Squaresoft's finest hours, thanks to the much-touted "Dream Team" trio of designers who had had worked on Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy and Dragon Ball.

With no random enemy encounters, and a battle system that kept users engaged, it allowed players to perform maneuvers by pairing up teammates. This all made for the best combat of any JRPG to date.
