No. 34: Civilization V – 100 Greatest Games Ever
Perhaps inspired by the great Civilization Revolution for consoles, Firaxis decided to completely redesign Civilization 5's interface and make it easy for anyone to jump into. That's not to say this is a dumbed down version, though, all the complexity fans have come to expect remains.
It's still impossibly fun to build a civilization up from the stone age into a futuristic cityscape, and there's just a staggering amount of stuff to do along the way. Civ V also offers a new combat system, for those of you who like to conquer the world by force, rather than through diplomacy or the space race.
You can easily lose entire days to Civilization, especially considering that a single game can last ten hours or more.
