Guiding another poor sucker through the foggy world of Silent Hill seems a bit familiar, but the second installment is smarter and much better looking, and delves deeper into the backstory of this cursed town.

Pyramid Head was introduced here, just one of the many horrors you'll face in this genuinely scary game. The grainy graphics are intentional this time, just another way to mess with your perception and keep you wondering where the next monster is coming from. That static blaring through your radio signifying a nearby monster only makes things worse.

The somewhat goofy voice acting is fixed in the recent Silent Hill HD Collection, which collects it with the lesser Silent Hill 3 and is clearly the best place to jump into the game.
